How to apply — step by step
Check your eligibility
Make sure you meet the residential and age/education criteria above. If you are unsure, contact Janette who will be happy to help.
Gather your documents
You will need a photo or scan of your official course offer letter, plus screenshots or photos of the items you wish to purchase with their costs.
Complete the application form
Fill in the online form carefully. All sections must be completed. List every item you need, with costs. High-value items such as laptops require a screenshot showing the model and price.
Open the online formSubmit and wait
Submit the form online, or print and post it to the Administrator. The Trustees meet in September and February — your application will be considered at the next meeting.
Receive your decision
The Administrator will email you to confirm the outcome and ask how you would like the grant paid. Grants are generally made within three weeks of the Trustees' meeting.
Provide proof of expenditure
After spending your grant, send receipts or confirmation of participation to the Administrator.
Tips for a strong application
- Think carefully about your year's requirements and list them all
- If your school or college has provided a list of required books, equipment or tools, include a copy
- For computers and other high-cost items, include a screenshot of the model and price
- For travel or courses, include a screenshot of the ticket or course cost
- A reasonable estimate is acceptable for smaller recurring expenses
- Make sure all sections of the form are completed — incomplete forms may not be accepted
- If you have received a bursary or grant from another organisation, declare it on the form
- Apply well before you need the money — the Trustees only meet twice a year
- You can apply in September and February each year, up to the age of 25
