Getting in touch

You can email Janette, the Administrator, at admin@ifef.co.uk or call her on 07984 445601 and she will be happy to help you.

Application process

You can apply online using our online application form. Fill it in and click "Submit" to send it off. Don't forget to attach any scans of supporting paperwork.

You can also print the form and fill it out manually, then post it to the Administrator.

Yes. Print the application form and complete it by hand. Please remember that if any details are missing you will be asked to add them, which might delay your application.

Post or deliver it to: Mrs Janette King, The Willows, Beales Lane, Northiam TN31 6LJ

Parents or guardians of students under the age of 18 may apply on their behalf. Please contact the Administrator if you have questions.

The Administrator will send you an email confirming the outcome of your application and asking how you wish the grant to be paid. If you do not respond to confirm you are happy to accept the grant, she will try to contact you by phone or SMS.

Grants vary depending on available funds. The Trustees will be as generous as possible for applicants who provide all the required information.

  • List all items you need to purchase, with their costs
  • High-cost items such as computers need supporting information including a screenshot of the model and price
  • A reasonable estimate is acceptable for smaller recurring expenses (e.g. printer consumables)
  • For travel or special courses, please supply a screenshot of the ticket or course cost

Timing

  • The September Trustees Meeting makes awards at the start of the academic year
  • The February Trustees Meeting makes awards mid-year for the current academic year

You can apply at any time, but your request will only be considered at the next Trustees Meeting.

Yes. You can apply in September and February for each year that you remain in further or higher education up to the age of 25, providing receipts have been received for purchases covered by any previous grant. However, you can only receive one grant per educational year.

⚠️

You cannot apply for a grant to cover expenses you have already incurred.

Unsuccessful applications

If an application is rejected, this is often due to a lack of supporting information on the application form. You are free to request feedback and submit a revised application for consideration at the next Trustees Meeting.

Unfortunately the terms of the Trust mean that we are not allowed to provide grants to applicants who do not meet the residential criteria. You must either live in Northiam parish yourself, or your parents or guardians must live permanently there.

Payments and grants

Grants are paid by cheque to the student, or to the parent/guardian if the student is under 18 or does not have their own bank account.

If a cheque has been sent but for whatever reason is no longer required, or you are not following the course for which it was granted, it should be returned to the Administrator.

Yes, by formal notification to the Administrator in writing or by email. A new, revised application form should be submitted.

Yes, by formal notification to the Administrator in writing or by email. Once you have withdrawn your application you are free to reapply.

If you do not use the funds for the purpose for which they were awarded, you will be asked to repay the money to the Foundation.

If you have purchased equipment such as a laptop and you cease the course of study it was to be used for, this will become the property of the Foundation and must be handed back.
